The AeroHippus Aerosol Chamber helps deliver medication from metered dose inhalers (MDIs) into a horse’s airway using a horse-specific spacer developed in collaboration with Tufts University’s Cummings School of Veterinary Medicine. It is designed to hold the inhaled dose until the horse breathes and to provide visual feedback that supports correct inhalation and mask seal.
- Designed for use with MDIs: medication is puffed into the chamber and inhaled by the horse.
- Single universal mask: one mask size intended to cover only one nostril.
- Flow‑Vu indicator: provides a visual cue to confirm inhalation, mask seal, and breath count.
- Chamber hold feature: keeps the dose in the chamber for horses that pause before inhaling.
- Cleaning guidance: do not boil, sterilize, or clean in a dishwasher; follow the inhaler manufacturer’s cleaning instructions for the inhaler itself.
These features apply the same basic principle as human asthma spacers while accommodating equine anatomy. The combination of a horse-shaped spacer, single-nostril mask, chamber hold, and Flow‑Vu indicator is intended to support accurate delivery of MDI doses to the horse’s nostril and airway.
