Bovi-Shield Gold FP 5 L5 HB is a combination modified-live and leptospira bacterin vaccine formulated to protect beef and dairy cattle against infectious bovine rhinotracheitis (IBR), bovine viral diarrhea (BVD) Types 1 and 2, parainfluenza 3 (PI3), bovine respiratory syncytial virus (BRSV) and leptospirosis. It is intended for breeding programs: give a single 2 mL primary dose about one month before breeding, followed by a Spirovac® L5 booster 4–6 weeks later.

  • Dosage and administration: 2 mL given subcutaneously or intramuscularly after aseptic rehydration of the freeze-dried component; use the full dose once opened.
  • Heifer protocol: heifers require at least two doses, with the second dose given at least 30 days before breeding.
  • Storage and handling: keep refrigerated at 2°–8°C and do not freeze.
  • Safety notes: contains gentamicin and thimerosal; give to pregnant cows only if previously vaccinated within the past 12 months; do not vaccinate within 21 days of slaughter; anaphylaxis is a possible adverse reaction.
  • Duration of immunity: can provide demonstrated immunity for up to twelve months when used according to label directions.
